Energy Efficiency Grants for Small Business Available
Application deadline of January 15 for up to $7,500 in
funding
The state Department of Environmental Protection is now accepting
applications for a grant program that assists small businesses with making
improvements to save energy and/or reduce pollution, according to Senator Don
White (R-41).
The Small Business Advantage Grant program provides Pennsylvania small
businesses with 50 percent matching reimbursement grants of up to $7,500 to
implement pollution prevention or energy efficiency projects.
Eligible projects must save the small business at least 20 percent annually
in energy consumption or pollution related expenses. Eligible projects would
install equipment that promotes energy efficiency or pollution prevention, adopt
processes that reduce energy consumption, reduce consumption of raw materials,
increase the reuse of raw materials on-site, or reduce the production of waste.
"This is an excellent opportunity for local small businesses to take
advantage of this state funding to make improvements and save money in the long
run," Senator White said. "These grants will help them install new equipment and
reduce their energy consumption, resulting in reduced operating costs."
Applications must be received by January 15, 2010 with grants
being awarded to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-served basis until
available funds are depleted. Applications are available at
www.depweb.state.pa.us, keyword: SB Advantage. Applications can also be
obtained by calling (717) 783-8411.
